Membership Agreement / 会員規約 (English)

This Membership Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the “Agreement”) applies to Global Village Yurakucho House (hereinafter referred to as “GVYH”), operated and managed by the Prometheus Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”). The following is a list of rules and regulations applicable to the Membership System of GVYH. Prospective members are deemed to have accepted this Agreement upon submitting a formal application for membership.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this program is to help members improve their global awareness and social skills, and to build a network among members through participation in and experience of the programs and social events offered by GVYH, in accordance with the slogan, “Be global citizens, aim to become global leaders!”

2. Definition of Member

A member is defined as a person who agrees with the purpose outlined in the preceding article, has completed the admission procedure, and is eligible for membership.

3. Application Procedures

  1. In order to apply, the applicant must agree to the terms and conditions of this Agreement and complete the membership application procedures as prescribed.

  2. Membership categories, admission fees, and annual membership fees are determined according to the affiliation and age of the applicant. Details will be shared separately.

  3. Upon payment of the admission fee and annual fee, the applicant shall be deemed qualified for membership and recognized as a member from the first day of the following month.

4. Rejection of Application for Membership

The Foundation reserves the right to deny membership to any applicant to whom any of the following applies:

  1. If the applicant provides false information, including a false name, on the application form

  2. If the applicant violates this Agreement

  3. In any other cases where the Foundation deems membership is not appropriate.

5. Fees

  1. Applicants who have completed the application procedures are required to pay in advance the admission fee and annual fee as specified for each membership category.

  2. In the case of a member joining mid-year, the annual fee shall be calculated on a monthly basis from the month of admission. The admission fee must be paid in full regardless of the month of admission.
    Payment shall be made in accordance with the method specified by the Foundation.
    In principle, there will be no refunds of fee payments, even in the event of a cancellation of membership.

6. Issuance of Membership Card

  1. A membership card will be issued upon admission. Please keep it in a safe place.

  2. The membership card cannot be transferred to a third party.

  3. When a member cancels his/her membership or is expelled, the member must immediately return his/her membership card.

  4. If a member loses his/her membership card due to loss, theft, etc. and requests for its reissue, a reissue fee of 1,000 yen (1,100 yen including consumption tax) will be charged.

7. Membership Benefits

Upon completion of the application procedures, members are entitled to use the membership benefits provided separately from the month of admission.

8. Membership Year, etc.

  1. The membership year is from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.

  2. Unless otherwise requested, membership is automatically renewed, and members are obliged to pay the annual fee at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

9. Expiration of membership

Memberships shall expire as follows:

  1. Student category: Upon graduation from the institution of higher education where the member is enrolled, or when the member is no longer enrolled in a Japanese institution of higher education.

  2. Young Professional category: At the end of the fiscal year in which the member turns 26 years old

  3. Student members who lose their membership upon graduation can change to the Young Professional category by submitting the separately prescribed “Membership Category Change” application.

10. Loss of Membership

A member shall be disqualified in the event of any of the following:

  1. When the member cancels his/her membership

  2. When a member falls under either Paragraph 1 or Paragraph 2 of the preceding article

  3. When a member fails to pay the annual membership fee

  4. When otherwise deemed unavoidable by the Foundation.

11. Cancellation of Membership

If a member wishes to cancel his/her membership, the member must submit a written notification to the Foundation by March 15 of the current fiscal year.

12. Prohibited Acts

  1. Members may not use the Foundation's name, the purpose GVYH, or the content of its activities to conduct any promotional or sales activities (including posting on social networking services) for the benefit of individuals or other specific organizations without permission.

  2. Members must not engage in any other activities that are contrary to the purpose of GVYH or the rules of this Agreement.

13. Protection of Personal Information

Members shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the personal information of other members obtained through their participation in GVYH, and shall handle such personal information appropriately in accordance with the “Privacy Policy” separately stipulated by the Foundation.

14. Intellectual Property

The rights to any and all works, know-how, ideas, inventions, designs, trademarks, image rights, etc. created through the activities of GVYH belong to the Foundation.

15. Filming of Participation

The Foundation may record video or photograph members participating in GVYH. All rights pertaining to such recordings belong to the Foundation, and may be used at will in accordance with the purpose of GVYH. Such use may include publication on the Foundation's website, social media, and other media, as well as publication and provision in newspapers, magazines, and other similar promotional media.

16. Changes To or Termination of the Membership System

  1. The Foundation may terminate the Membership System if it determines that continuation is no longer possible, due to changes in economic circumstances, the launching of a new program, or other unavoidable reasons as determined by the Foundation. In addition, the contents of the Membership System may be changed to the extent reasonable in light of the main purpose of GVYH.

  2. If the Foundation decides to terminate the Membership System, it will set a termination date and notify members prior to the termination date in a manner prescribed by the Foundation.

17. Modification of the Agreement

The Foundation may change the Agreement to the extent it deems necessary and reasonable. In the event of modification of the Agreement, the Foundation shall notify members in advance of the date in which modifications are to go into effect and the contents of said modifications. The Foundation will post the revised Agreement on its website or otherwise make the modifications known to the public in a manner the Foundation deems appropriate.

18. Governing Law

The formation, validity, performance and interpretation of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
